Subject: XLR Rattle Noise from Rear of the Folding Top Front Panel (Roof)

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:
Rattle noise from left or right rear of the folding top front panel (roof). The noise will sound like it is coming from the top of the rear quarter glass window. The noise is due to free play in the rear folding top shims that are used at the rear reinforcement support bracket.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Remove the shims on the effected side and add a piece of flocking tape (felt tape) to each side of the shim. The tape should be used to keep the shims from vibrating between the mounting locations and should not be attached under the bolt area as this will change the shim thickness. Return the shim to its original position making sure that the correct number of shims and size are returned to their original location.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
