Subject: | Additional Diagnosis For Folding Top Temperature Messages Displayed On The DIC |
Models: | 2004 - 2009 Cadillac XLR |
2005 - 2012 Chevrolet Corvette with Power Folding Top (RPO CM7) |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
- Condition/Concern:
-
On some occasions it may be found that the folding top is inoperative. A message on the Drivers Information Center (DIC) may read "Top Too Cold To Move" or "Top Motor Over Temp". You may also notice a DTC B3670 that is set in the Folding Top Control Module.
- Recommendation/Instructions:
-
If normal diagnosis leads to replacing the folding top pump assembly, disconnect the white dock-and-lock connector on the side of the pump. Using an ohm meter, check resistance across terminals B9 and B10 (Cadillac XLR) or terminals B7 and B8 (Chevrolet Corvette) on the pump side of the harness connector C431 (X431). Then record the resistance reading and compare to the chart below.

If the top has only been operated one time, a message is displayed, and the thermistor is reading outside the normal range, the folding top pump will need to be replaced because the thermistor is not available separately.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
