    xlr-v hardtop squeak

I've noticed that when my V has to sit in direct sun for a significant period of time (2+ hours... and I attempt to avoid this as much as possible), it tends to "pop" a few times the first few miles driven... kind of like a settling action related to expanding & contracting. Not particularly...

Leaving the top down for days?

I've done a few days in the garage with the top down and had no ill effect. I'm having tinting applied today which will require partial retraction for a couple of hours... then re-coup. Hope all goes well. Unfortunately, I'm at work and can't be there to assist/watch.

    Help! Air Intake

Thanks for the input. The Volant web site states that no additional tuning is necessary for this unit on this application. Howevah... Stella's comment regarding "maximization" should be considered with this and all intake-related mods. I'll keep this in mind going forward... certainly don't want...

    Help! Air Intake

Just...to... be...sure... is it only with the more sophisticated d3 systems that a "tuning" be performed, or a "tuning box" installed? I intend to use a basic Volant system for awhile... is that simply plug and play, so to speak?

Always interesting to hear of a fellow Pensacola resident with an XLR! There are not too many of us around... we should introduce our vehicles to each other sometime ; )

    Wind deflector

There is a rheostat dial for controlling the intensity of the illumination. Mine activates when the headlights are on... at a "medium" intensity. When I brake the intensity is magnified to near maximum. My color selection is red and have a Cadillac Crest etching that is illuminated along with...

    Volant CAI for XLR-V

PM sent, Cubby. This may be something I'd like to implement.

    Lloyd's floor mats

Y'all were right... Lloyd's makes some darn fine floor mats! Just received and installed the ones ordered from "buycarfloormats.com" affiliated with Southern Car Parts. I selected the light shale color with black embroidered "XLR". They fit perfectly, color match well, and look very nice in...

    Tint or no tint?

Okay, let me be sure again... do I (or the tint pro) have only a limited time to perform the install on the rear window until the top begins to "move" on it's own? I don't think it'll take very long for a pro, but 10 minutes may be pushing it. Just want to be sure I understand... thanks!

    Tint or no tint?

EXcellent! Thanks for the assurances! Good tip on continuing the cycle sequence upon restart!

    Tint or no tint?

Just... To... Be... Sure (and I've never had occasion to do this before): It IS permissable to open the top only a portion of the way and then stop... right? Just take your finger off of the button at the point where you feel you need it? Can it be incrementally adjusted from that point...

Transmission Range Switch / Invalid Range

Transmission Range Switch was replaced Friday (described on paperwork as the "transmission manual shift shaft switch assembly"). This is an internal device and required replacing the tranny fluid, as well. A $51 device, $46 in fluid, and $133 labor brought the total to almost $230. He also...

Transmission Range Switch / Invalid Range

Situation with my '06 XLR-V: October, 2011 - Vehicle reached 3rd or 4th gear and wouldn't shift higher... service engine indicator and service stabilitrac system messaged in the DIC. Stopped vehicle. Restarted and all smooth as normal except service engine light remained on until a few...

    Back up camera anyone?

I'm with graytoad on this... if you happen upon a classy, inconspicuous device that works with our vehicles... please clue us in. My ultrasound buttons are EXTREMELY sensitive... and I don't want to replace a rear "bumper" anytime soon ; )

    Tint or no tint?

Was told yesterday by a local tech that 28% sides and 18% back was the permittable extreme here in Florida (said it was one of the lowest restricted states). My chief concern is whether my Wind Restrictor with brake light module would be significantly visually limited from the rear. I love the...

    Radio settings

One would think, no? All of the other items mentioned remain set... just those pesky DSP settings. It's not all the time, either. Not a major obstacle, just a bit of a nuisance when having occasion to change channels more than usual.

    Radio settings

I've noticed that my speaker settings tend to change without request frequently. This is not the channel selections, but the settings for type of speaker broadcast (talk, driver side, surround). I assumed it worked on the same principle as the channels with regard to D1 and D2 key fobs, but...
