I need some guidance about how this is done properly. I can get it "loose", but there is still something holding it that has been yet undetermined. Can anyone direct me to, or provide, a schematic that reveals an exploded view? Many thanks in advance!
I considered that option, but can't say for sure. I had a tech at an automotive accessory shop assist on this and it was really pretty straight forward. We removed the headlight assemblies to facilitate the placement of the strip on each underside, and the wiring harness was right there to tap...
After discussing the procedure with the tech, it appears that the term "leakproof" may have been a bit overstated. Perhaps "leak resistant" is more apt a term.
This will involve affixing a weather stripping around the edge of the trunk lid... across the back and down the sides. Apparently...
I'm taking mine in to my local dealer this afternoon to have a "leakproof the trunk" procedure done tomorrow. A month ago during servicing I asked the tech if there was anything GM had advised and he mentioned this as one of the most important things to have done. Says it takes an hour or so...
The fly in the ointment here is that the DRLs and the turn signals use the same circuit via original design. I thought I wanted the white on all the time until it occurred to me that my DRLs were amber (doh!), and that by wiring the amber lead to the DRL/TS circuit I would have matching...
Installed the Plasmaglow Lightning Eyes dual color (white/amber) LED strips this morning. Connected the amber lead to the DRL/TS circuit and the white lead to the parking light circuit. Works like a charm as I had initially envisioned... amber on with daytime DRL and white on with...
Question for monepit and/or onalaska: Are your LED strips mounted on the underside of the headlight assembly or on the body panel below the assembly? Would there be an advantage either way? I'm installing mine tomorrow... the info seems to imply that the strips would be mounted on the body panel...
I just received my white/amber LED's from Plasmaglow yesterday (ordered
before I realized they wouldn't work as preferred on my vehicle). Let's say I'm willing to leave the amber's idle and just activate the white... can I have them on with the DRL's and remain on when the headlights are used...
Indeed they do look quite nice! Plasma Glow has a lot of interesting stuff on their website. Dual-color strips are available where the primary color runs with your headlights and then alternately imbedded amber lights flash with the turn signals. The outside mirror strips look like a...
Congrats on your acquisition... and welcome to the forum! I've had my V for almost a year now and this board has provided assistance many times. Good luck on the "warts", but you'll most likely never regret making her a part of the family!
Finished the headlight upgrade to HID 6000k yesterday with V-LEDs bulbs. Removed the headlight assembly via turning the tires and no removal was necessary. Replaced the side marker and parking incandescents with LEDs while there and they look great. Didn't involve the signal lamps with this...
Thanks for the links, Cubby! Those are nice looking rims on kbonita's XLR! The L A Wheels outfit is solid by all appearances, and I've spoken with gatorwilly. A future project in the making for my V, hopefully.
I'd like to see a pic of a black V with the chromed stock wheels, if anyone has or can direct me to one.
Perchance the L.A. implies Lower Alabama versus Los Angeles? Certainly would be less shipping cost for me!
Saturday, while installing my HID fog lamps, I noticed a couple of small peeled spots on my right front rim. I have stock '06 V wheels and had them straighted and polished back in March, '11 after purchase.
What is the "finish" on these rims... and has anyone had the same issue requiring some...
That is GOOD news! Only a pair of bulbs to source and install. Hope to plug in a couple of LEDs into that inside slot to replace the white incandescent while I'm there.
Does anyone know definitively what that particular inside light is called? I've heard both parking and side marker. I would...
